Antique Reclaimed Victorian Period Solid Stripped Pine Four Panel Internal Door With Black Metal Thumb Latch.
This is a private sale from a pet and smoke free home. We have just removed this genuine antique door from our house, which was built around 1820, as we are renovating and updating the interior.
The size of the door is approximately 185.5 cm High x 75.8 cm Wide x 3.4 cm Deep.
It has four rectangular panels (position as two over two). There is beading on the inside edge of the panels on one face of the door; the panels are plain on the other - as was often the custom with such old doors.
There are no hinges on the door. It does, however, have a nice black metal thumb latch; the associated black metal catch from the door frame is also included in its sale.
A metal escutcheon surrounding a key hole is still present on the door.
Given the door has been in constant use until now it is showing wear and tear with some cracking and dents, as well as evidence of having previously been hung - all of which is to be expected and is commensurate with its age.
The door is ready to be sanded and painted. You might though prefer the door to remain stripped so as to fully enjoy its history - which is a large part of its character.
There is no active woodworm or signs of previous woodworm in the door. At some point in its life the top corners of the door have been repaired with wooden inserts.
